Busan-Seoul Day 7: Gyeongbokgung & Hongdae

The two older kids continued sleeping while the rest of us had breakfast at Cafe Stanford.

There was carbonara pasta that day!

After breakfast, we headed out to take the train to Euljiro 3-ga Station and transferred to Line 3 (orange) to Gyeongbokgung Station.

We followed the signs underground to Gyeongbokgung

We exited the underground and arrived just outside of the National Palace Museum of Korea, right next to Gyeongbokgung.

We joined the queue for a staff to take this photo for us! 😁

Since we've explored Gyeongbokgung previously, we decided not to do it again. Instead, we brought the Mum-in-law to the famous ginseng chicken soup at Tosokchon Samgyetang, our must-visit for every Seoul trip!

There's always a long line outside the restaurant
We spotted Mirabeau cafe just opposite and noticed that they prided themselves on their homemade hot chocolate. Obviously the chocolate lovers had to try it!
They've introduced an explanation sheet for tourists! 😅
We ordered the black chicken soup (₩25,000), premium signature chicken soup (₩26,000) and signature chicken soup (₩20,000)
We got a traditional Korean dining table this time
The signature chicken soup! So yummy!
Interestingly, this was tastier than the black chicken the Hubby ordered.

After lunch, we headed to our next destination.

Gyeongbokgung Station

We took Line 3 (orange) to Euljiro 3-ga and transferred to Line 2 (green) to Hongik University Station (Exit 8). We arrived at Hongdae for some shopping!

While we were shopping, the Mum-in-law started to feel unwell and we had to rush back to our hotel by train so that she can rest. Thankfully, I had my mini pharmacy with me so I was able to give her the medicine she needed.

Soft toys that the Boy bought from a shop in Hongdae

While the Mum-in-law rested in her room, we headed out in search of dinner in the neighbouring area. We headed to Lotte Department Store opposite our hotel to buy groceries from Lotte Supermarket (closes at 8pm) but it was too crowded.

We bought burgers for the Boy at Lotteria as he loved the one he made at Kidzania. Unfortunately he couldn't quite get the same feels from the burger we ordered 😅

We took pictures with the beautiful Christmas decoration outside.

(In contrast to theirs...)
Love the huge 3D screens that were everywhere in Seoul

The Eldest and I were craving ramyeon so the both of us plus the Hubby explored Myeongdong in search of a restaurant after we sent the two Littlest back to the hotel. We settled on a restaurant that also served porridge so that we can take it away for the Mum-in-law.

Twoowt?
Soup was average, definitely not as good as yesterday's lunch
Ramyeon was better but definitely not the best

We were disappointed by our dinner but well, we needed something simple as we had to rush back to the hotel with food for the Mum-in-law. Hope that she will feel better soon! 🤞🏻
