Hair Care for Swimmers

I love swimming so I was beyond thrilled to find out that my girl loves to swim too. She responded very well to the water since she was 10 months old and has been swimming ever since. We started sending her for swim classes and she has further improved such that she could swim solo without any floatation devices.

As she swims at least once a week now, I'm always concerned about the effect of chlorine on her hair. I tried buying a swim cap for her to put on but she's adament that she won't wear it (not her fault really, even I don't like wearing a swim cap).

So when the local distributor of Circle of Friends contacted me to review their range of hair care products for kids age 3-12 years old, I immediately asked for the swimmer's range. The range aims to provide young swimmers like my girl with protection against chlorine and other chemicals that they are exposed to when swimming.

The Circle of Friends Swimmer Range consists of a Pre-swim Conditioner, a Swimmers' Shampoo and a After-Swim Leave-in Conditioner.

Left to right: Kylie's Pre-swim Conditioner;
George's Swimmers' Shampoo;
Emma's After-Swim Conditioner

I like that they are so self-explanatory: the Pre-swim Conditioner is for spraying onto the hair to protect it before the swim; the Shampoo washes off all the chlorine and other chemicals when bathing while the After-Swim Conditioner is lathered onto dry or wet hair after bath to moisturise the hair (no need to wash off).

I knew we would be swimming a lot on our trip to Phuket so I brought the whole range with us to give them a try.

We practically swam every morning, afternoon and evening in the private pool of our hotel, U Zenmaya Phuket Resort!
Introducing the range to my girl, who was also excited to try them out

Initially we had a hard time remembering to spray it before she got into the pool! *laughs*

Not happy that she has to pause and get sprayed (and covered with sunscreen) before she enters the water

I like that it was easy to spray on and spread out on her hair. I use it for myself too (why should only my girl get all the good stuff?).

Finally, she gets to swim!

I especially liked the after-swim leave on conditioner. My girl tends to have really dry and tangled hair but after lathering on the conditioner, her hair is all soft and silky! (Yes, yes, I stole it for my hair too *laughs*).
