Melbourne II Day 3: Box Hill Central & DFO Moorabbin

My breakfast this morning was Australian yogurt with grapes and the fresh strawberries that we picked yesterday. So yummy! =)

My healthy breakfast! =)

It's going to be a day of shopping today as it's Australia's Labour Day. We headed to Box Hill Central, which came highly recommended by the hubby's colleague.

It felt like we walked right into Asia because almost everyone here spoke Chinese or Cantonese. There were even shops selling Asian produce and goods.

There was also a Box Hill Kids Playground at the top level of the mall, next to the food court.

The main highlight was a giant rocket in the middle of the playground
Walking across the plank and down the slide
Ample seating for accompanying adults
Another seating area for adults, nicely decorated with planets
Interactive screens that uses Xbox Kinect technology
Creating a profile and playing the games

We shopped around for awhile before heading to the Asian restaurants along Carrington Road for lunch. There were a few popular ones but we chose Roast Duck Chicken as it was recommended by the hubby's colleague and there were tables available.

Left: Various dim sum;
Right: Wan ton mee with super huge wan ton (AUD10)
The roast meat platter (AUD28) and fried rice (AUD10) were delicious, especially the roast duck! So succulent and tasty!
Beef hor fun (AUD10) was good but nothing to rave about compared to the roast duck

Overall, unless you are really missing Asian food, I would give Box Hill a miss. We didn't find shopping there any better than the DFO.

Hence, we headed to DFO Moorabbin
to continue our shopping!! (Shopaholics much? *laughs*)

They were still having their Labour Day sale!

We bought soooo many things!!! Totally fulfilled our shopping requirements!! =)

Including this DFO, we have visited a total of 4 out of 5 DFOs in Australia: we visited DFO Essendon yesterday, DFO South Wharf during our last trip and DFO Brisbane when we were in Brisbane a few years ago! Yes, we really love shopping! *laughs*

Hence, if shopping is your key reason for visiting Melbourne (or if you're just shopaholics like us!), choosing to go during an Australian public holiday may prove to be very rewarding =)

That night we had a homecooked meal at our apartment thanks once again to Chef Grandma!

Chicken kebab from Prahran Market all wrapped and ready to cook in the oven
Super juicy and fresh lobster tail! Yum!

At around 10pm, we heard the sound of fireworks and managed to catch the full display from the comfort of our balcony!

I spent the rest of the night packing our purchases into 3 additional bags! Crazy! *laughs*
