Littlest's 7th Birthday @ KidZania Singapore

I've always liked KidZania ever since my first visit with the Eldest in 2017. KidZania Singapore was reopened in 2024, after being closed since COVID pandemic. A colleague shared that there was a promotion for open tickets at 50% off! Even after the discount, the tickets still cost $60 per child and $36.50 per adult (before GST)! 💸😕 

Since the Littlest was celebrating her 7th birthday, the brother-in-law paid for both her and her best friend/cousin to enjoy a fun day together! 🩷 

We took the Sentosa monorail to the Beach Station and walked to KidZania

The registration process was digital and relatively easy. The kids and I scanned our faces at the entrance and were allowed in (no need for physical tickets)! 

Fire Station (SCDF)

Science Lab (Yakult)

Robotics Lab (School of Robotics)

This was a newly added activity, which taught the kids how to design robotic vehicles

Paramedics (Parkway East Hospital)

Designed to look just like a mini version of a real hospital

Air Force (The Air Force)

This was a newly added activity, which allowed the kids to "fly" in a different way

After practising their moves, they were brought to another area where they got to interact with screens inside a helicopter and a fighter jet

Aviation Academy (Malaysia Airlines)

You could be a pilot and/or cabin crew! The kids chose the former 😊

Unlike the Aviation Academy at KidZania Busan, there were no screens for parents to monitor this activity while we were waiting outside. I had no idea what they were doing. When the kids finished the activity, they concluded that they were both not cut out to be pilots! 😅

Immigration Office (ICA)

This was a newly added activity, which taught the kids the importance of border control and how to look out for suspicious people through CCTVs

Newspaper / Journalism (The Straits Times)

The structure used to be a ropes course but was now cleverly converted it into a construction site.

Art Studio

The Littlest was so happy with her artwork!

Initially the girls couldn't agree on an activity since the Littlest wanted to make art while her cousin preferred the nursery. I told them we wouldn't do anything until they came to an agreement. They finally agreed that since it was the Littlest's birthday, they will do art first, with the Littlest promising to do what the cousin wanted after. It was a good teaching moment for the kids to learn compromise and conflict resolution.

Hospital (Parkway East Hospital)

There were two activities here: nursery or surgery

As agreed, they went to the nursery and learnt to take care of newborn babies
(the staff forgot to dress them in their uniforms!)

Since they were already there, the staff got them to try the surgery activity as well

Snacks Factory (Irvins)

They pretended to make snacks and got a small packet of actual snacks each

Beauty Studio

The Littlest really enjoyed the beauty salon in Kidzania Busan so she was super excited to get her nails done! The staff informed me that the payment with Kidzos was waived that day! 🤭

Police Station (SPF)

It's a must-do activity for most kids 😀

The staff had enthusiastically made the kids shout "yes sir!" as they carried out their "duties" 😅 He may have gone slightly overboard as the kids told me later that it was one of their least favourite activities 😅

Pizza Academy (Canadian 2 For 1 Pizza)

We were deciding between pizzas and burgers for lunch

Pizza was the preferred choice by the kids!

You'd need to pay S$12 to take part in this activity! It's no longer paid using KidZos like it was before COVID and in other KidZanias.
The kids had a great time making the pizzas!

Their masterpieces! We had a very yummy lunch! 😁

Cheese Factory (The Laughing Cow)

The kids learnt about cheese-making and got a piece of cheese to eat!

Postal & Logistics Hub (Singapore Post)

Having fun sorting packages and placing them into the Pop Station lockers

This was unexpectedly fun for the kids as the miniature Pop Station looked just like the real thing!

Interestingly, this seemingly simple activity was a fan favourite for many kids! You could see kids of all ages happily pushing their carts around KidZania, having the time of their lives! 😄

Radio Station (Kiss92)

The girls were joined by 2 boys, who didn't take anything seriously so the whole group took longer than usual to complete their recording. Even though the girls complained about the boys, I saw them laughing like crazy too! 😅 s

Supermarket

Since the girls were very familiar with KidZania by now, I allowed them to deliver the groceries independently. I waited at the supermarket for them and they returned promptly with no problems completing the task on their own! I was proud of them! ☺️

The kids were so sad that it was time to leave and begged to return on the Cousin's birthday! 😅

Parent Lounge where no kids were allowed

Honestly, I saw many parents following their kids closely and even helping them to complete their activities (when the staff wasn't looking)! There was one parent in particular who went as far as to collect the things on the grocery list, deliver them and take the KidZo from the staff without letting her child do any of it! I found that incredulous because the whole point of KidZania was to build autonomy and independence in our children! 😔🙂‍↔️

We made one last stop at Zentral Gallery Department Store for the kids to use their hard earned KidZos!

The kids had to calculate their KidZos and choose things that were within their budget. They finally decided on KidZania activity books and stationery!

KidZania Singapore was really fun! The kids managed to do a whopping 22 activities, the most we had ever done in one day! 🩷 There were quite a lot of activities that were unique to Singapore and different from our previous experiences. Very appreciative of the Ministry of Home Affairs and local brands for making the experience even more authentic for the kids! 😄

It's too bad that the tickets were so expensive! At time of writing, it's the most expensive KidZania in the world! Otherwise we'll definitely return! ☺️

Guangzhou-HK Day 3: Guangzhou Cultural Centre & Shangxiajiu Street

We had breakfast at Horizon Club before heading out to explore Guangzhou.

After breakfast, we took a Premium 6-seater DiDi (CN¥76) to Guangzhou Culture Centre 广州市文化馆, instead of the colleague's recommended Lingan Impression Park. My preferred attraction was located nearer to our hotel and entry was FREE for all visitors!

We had so much fun exploring the centre and definitely loved it more than Yu Yan in Shanghai, which was so small and crowded!

When it was time to leave, we took a premium 6-DiDi (CN¥100) to Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street 上下九步行街 for shopping.

It was time for lunch and Lim Kee Bing Sutt 康记冰室 on the 2nd floor of a commercial building caught his eye!

There were many restaurants, including a McDonald's, in this building

We loved the food and wouldn't mind going back again! 😋 With satisfied stomachs, we continued with shopping along the streets.

The streets were super crowded by the time we decided to leave and we found it so difficult to get a DiDi! We had to walk to a less crowded road and wait for almost 30 minutes before we finally got a 6-seater DiDi (CN¥178) back to our hotel! Thank God!

We got back in time for our usual evening canapes!

The Mum and Littlest wanted to rest in the hotel after canapes so the Hubby, two older kids and I headed to Canton Tower at night since it was just 10 minutes away by DiDi. We were hoping to catch the daily night show but we missed it.

Bought bread from Holiland after trying the free bread that they were giving away at the entrance!

Since it was my Boy's birthday, we also brought him to eat his favourite ramen!

Unfortunately, while the Boy typically ranks ramen at A- or B-tier (with Ichiran at the S-tier, as in S for "super"! 😅), he ranked this tonkotsu ramen at the C-tier! The soup was really terrible and tasted nothing like tonkotsu!!! Maybe the restaurant in Tokyo was Michelin but this outlet certainly was not!! The Boy was so sad 😔

As we shopped around in Canton Tower Plaza, we spotted The King's Clay Sculptor, which sold all kinds of clay figurines!

The Boy wanted these clay figurines for his birthday!

They were part of a large collection of Plant vs. Zombies figurines!
There were so many to choose from!

We returned to our hotel to celebrate the Boy's birthday with a complimentary cake provided by Shangri-La Hotel!
