The Hubby was in between jobs this year and wanted a short break before he started his new job. He suggested visiting Manila instead of Cambodia (the initial plan) due to the Cambodian-Thai conflict. Manila was close enough for a short trip and neither of us had been to the city before.
As this would be our first couple trip since Kuala Lumpur in 2018, we wanted to travel by Singapore Airlines Business Class, our first Business experience ever! π We redeemed our flights at 48,000 KrisFlyer miles per person (converted from credit card points). It wasn't the best deal but since we booked quite last minute, it was good enough for us ☺️
Since we had access to the Singapore Airlines Lounge, we arrived at Changi Airport Terminal 2 at 9.15am before our flight to make the most of it! ππ

| Similar to the hotel club lounges we were used to |

| Variety and quality of food was good! Especially the chwee kueh and laksa! |

| Good selection of snacks, tea and cheeses! |

| Enjoying the lounge before our flight! |
There was also a decent selection of alcohol and ice-cream! We enjoyed the lounge so much that we left a little too late and arrived at the gate when half of the people had already boarded the plane! π

We walked straight to the boarding counter. I'd have to say that it was a great feeling being able to board the plane without having to queue! π

| Amazing legroom! π€© |

| We chose side-by-side seats as seat selection was complimentary |

| Love that the seat reclines to almost fully horizontal! |
Our plane departed at 12.10pm and I almost didn't notice as I was too busy enjoying my seat and it's facilities! π
The cabin crew confirmed our lunch main courses that we had booked via Book the Cook prior to our flight. The Hubby chose the steak while I had lobster! π
.jpg) |
| Appetiser was prawn and vegetables |
.jpg) |
| My lobster main course was great, but not as fantastic as the butter which came with the bread! I can survive without rice but I cannot give up good bread and butter! π |

Hubby's steak was delicious! (left); Fruits and drinks to complement our meal (right). |
If you thought the service in economy was good, the service in business class was exceptional! π We were well-taken care of by the crew! SQ cabin crew deserved to win the Best Cabin Crew Award 2025! π This is why I continue to fly Singapore Airlines, despite much cheaper prices on other airlines! π€
Before we knew it, 3 hours had passed and we were about to land in Manila! The flight duration of 3 hours 30 minutes was obviously too short!!! ππ€
We arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 3.45pm (no time difference between Singapore & Philippines).

We hailed a Grab (₱365) to our Makati Shangri-La Hotel, our 4th Shangri-la accommodation this year! π€
We checked in at the Horizon Club Lounge on the 24th floor as we had booked a Horizon Room.

Complimentary coffee, tea, water and chocolates from the hotel! I brought the chocolates home as a souvenir for my Boy and he enjoyed it! |

Our favourite aspects of the hotel that we liked include its close proximity to many malls in the area and amenities such as a swimming pool and a large, very well-equipped gym!
.jpg) |
| The Hubby said the gym was as big as a Fitness Centre! |
After all the feasting at the SilverKris Lounge and on the plane, we both decided to exercise for about an hour to work up an appetite before our evening canapΓ©s at the Horizon Club Lounge (more eating)!ππ

After eating so much, we had to go for a walk to the neighbouring malls!πΆπΌ♀️

| We realised we haven't eaten much vegetables so we bought some from this stall |
There was also a supermarket where we managed to get our groceries.
The Landmark was only one of many malls in the area that we stayed in! We didn't have time to explore the other malls and planned to do so in the days to come! π
